About Nowra IT Support

IT support Nowra locals trust — from a self-taught technician, security researcher, and digital privacy advocate who’s called the Shoalhaven home his entire life.

Meet Cody

The Person Behind IT Support Nowra

I’m Cody Ward. I was born in Nowra in 1993 and I’ve lived in the Shoalhaven my entire life — mostly around the Jervis Bay area. I call Callala Beach home.

I was a computer geek before it was even remotely cool. I dropped out of high school after they cut the IT program, studied at TAFE and earned a Certificate IV in IT, then spent the next decade and a half teaching myself everything else — running online communities, building gaming servers, getting deep into cryptocurrency, practising digital security research, and quietly becoming the person everyone called when their tech broke.

I’m a first-generation digital native. I grew up building PCs, pulling things apart, breaking them, and figuring out how to put them back together. That curiosity never went away — it just became a career. I’ve been working in technology my entire adult life, and I started Nowra IT Support because people kept telling me I should.

For years I’ve been volunteering as a digital mentor at Living Connected and U3A, helping older Australians learn to use their devices with confidence. Time and time again, the people I worked with kept asking the same question: “Why don’t you charge for this?” Honestly, the clients I helped kept saying I was a better teacher than what they’d experienced elsewhere — which is a bit awkward to say, but it’s the reason this business exists. They convinced me.

“I’d rather teach you how to fix it yourself next time than just fix it and leave. That’s not how most IT support works — but it’s how it should work.”

Security Credentials

Cybersecurity Credentials That Back Up Our IT Support Nowra

In my early twenties I got into security research — what’s sometimes called “bug hunting.” I found and responsibly reported security vulnerabilities (primarily cross-site scripting exploits) to major companies. Nothing earth-shattering, but enough to earn formal acknowledgements from some of the biggest names in tech.

In plain English, that means eBay, SAP, Deutsche Telekom, and Trend Micro all have my name on their public security acknowledgement pages — their “hall of fame” for researchers who helped make their platforms safer. These are some of the world’s largest companies in e-commerce, enterprise software, telecommunications, and cybersecurity.

What does this mean for you? It means when I clean malware off your machine, set up your antivirus, or harden your home network, I’m not just following a checklist. I understand how threats actually work — because I’ve found real vulnerabilities in real systems used by millions of people. That knowledge goes into every computer repair and security job I do across Nowra and the Shoalhaven.

Our Approach

What Makes This IT Support Nowra Different

Education, Not Just Fixes — Most IT support businesses fix your problem and leave. I believe we need to do more. I’ll fix the issue, explain what went wrong, and offer to show you how to handle it if it happens again. You shouldn’t need to call someone every time the same thing goes wrong.

Privacy and Security First — I’m a passionate advocate for digital privacy, cybersecurity, and digital literacy. I use GrapheneOS on my own phone — a privacy-focused operating system — because I practise what I preach. When I set up your devices or secure your accounts, I’m giving you the same level of protection I’d want for myself.

Plain English, Always — Technology doesn’t need to be confusing. I explain things the way I’d want them explained to me — clearly, patiently, and without jargon. If something’s going to cost money, I’ll tell you upfront. If a repair doesn’t make financial sense, I’ll tell you that too.

No Wasted Time — I respect your time and I won’t waste it. I show up, get to work, explain what I’m doing as I go, and make sure everything’s sorted before I leave. No fluff, no upselling, no dragging out a job.

Quality Over Quantity — Whether it’s the tools I use, the advice I give, or the parts I recommend — I believe in doing things right the first time. I’d rather spend an extra ten minutes making sure something’s done properly than rush through and have you call back next week.

No Fix, No Charge — If I can’t solve the problem, you don’t pay. No diagnostic fees, no call-out charges, no “we tried but it didn’t work” invoices. Simple as that.

Local to the Shoalhaven

IT Support Nowra — Born and Raised

I’m not a franchise. I’m not a call centre. I’m not someone who drives down from Sydney. I was born at Nowra Hospital, I grew up around Jervis Bay, and I live in Callala Beach. This is my community — I know the streets, I know the suburbs, and I know the people.

I provide IT support Nowra locals can call on today, next week, or six months from now. I cover Nowra, Bomaderry, Worrigee, North Nowra, Berry, Shoalhaven Heads, Culburra Beach, Huskisson, Vincentia, and everywhere in between across postcodes 2540 and 2541. Same-day home visits, real explanations, and a face you’ll see again — not a different technician every time.

Outside of IT, you’ll find me at Friday Night Magic at the local game store, researching nutrition and unprocessed food, keeping tabs on the crypto and gold markets, or charging up the EV. I’m a technologist — but I’m a Shoalhaven local first.
